Capt. Robert Jaspers
Capt. Robert Jaspers is a USCG licensed & fully insured fulltime, professional sightfishing guide and third generation native with over 40 years of local on-the-water experience, specializing in sightfishing the shallow grassflats in the northern areas of the Indian River Lagoon System. His hometown is Indian River City, which is now the southern-Titusville.

He spent his early years exploring the unspoiled wilderness that once surrounded northern Brevard County; the St. Johns River, the upper Indian River's three lagoons, Playalinda Beach, the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, and the southern end of Mosquito Lagoon were, more than anywhere else, where he could be found and loved to be.

Capt. Bob is very conservation-minded and knowledgeable about east central Florida's coastal fish, flora, and fauna; his knowledge of local history, plants, and wildlife makes for very interesting tales which he is always willing to share with anyone who's interested in what it was like in East Central Florida Brevard County before the Space Race and Disney World came to Florida.

He became an angler, and later a fishing guide, because of his love & respect for the Indian River Lagoons, and he believes very strongly in the ecological preservation of Florida.

Capt. Jaspers has spent decades perfecting his own style of flatsfishing, simplifying the art of sightfishing to its basic terms.

No one who fishes by fly or with artificials will becomes a sightfishing expert overnight, but he can teach you the where the fish and bait are, when & why, and other shallow water sightfishing skills which would normally take anglers years to learn on there own.

The only thing you may need to do before a trip with us is work on your casting skills! Accuracy/presentation is what makes the difference between seeing the fish and catching them.

He is a member of the Indian River Guides Association, the Coastal Conservation Assn. of Florida, and the Brevard County Chapter of the Backcountry Fly Fishing Assn., and the Florida Chapter of the Federation of Fly Fishers, and many other conservation associations. Besides fishing, his hobbies are horticulture and photography.

* The fishery comes first! We encourage all anglers to practice CPR (catch, photograph, and release) when possible to preserve the lagoon's resources & angling heritage for future generations.
